Invest India has appointed Manmeet K Nanda as the next managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of the prestigious organisation. According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Invest India’s board has approved Nanda’s appointment since Deepak Bagla decided to step down.
Manmeet Nanda’s appointment as the MD and CEO of Invest India comes at a time when she was already serving as the Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The post of the MD and CEO of Invest India was due to be filled since Deepak Bagla resigned last week.

According to the ministry’s release, in a meeting held on Monday, Invest India’s board approved the appointment of Manmeet Nanda, an IAS officer of the West Bengal Cadre. Some media reports also added that Nanda would continue serving as the Joint Secretary, DPIIT, in addition to being the MD and CEO of Invest India.
On March 17, Deepak Bagla stepped down as the MD and CEO as the work of the investment promotion body was questioned after an audit. As per media reports, the audit also observed that not enough work had happened on the ground, however, there is no official confirmation of the same.
