The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is on in full swing and is reportedly making new records everyday in terms of viewership. As per official updates, Disney Star, the official television broadcaster of Tata IPL 2023 has made a new record of highest ever viewership. Based on Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC’s) data, the company has announced that a record-breaking number of 36.9 crore viewers tuned in to watch the first 19 matches of IPL 2023.
According to the official release, the recorded viewership happens to be the highest ever in the history of IPL. Disney Star also clocked about 113 billion minutes of watch time for the live broadcast of IPL 2023, during the first 19 matches.

In addition to this, as per the official numbers, Disney Star has seen a growth of ~25 per cent in match TVR in comparison to the last edition, for the live broadcast of all matches of IPL 2023 held so far. The company boasts of “TV’s incomparable capacity to aggregate audiences.”
The official digital broadcasting rights of IPL 2023 went to Viacom18 for JioCinema. So far, even the latter has boasted of record-high viewership numbers, sometimes touching almost 2 crores on a single day for a particular match.
The IPL 2023 is being held in home-and-away format for the first time in many years. As per experts, the high viewership and enthusiasm among the audience was expected as IPL has resumed in a rather normal fashion after 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
