Income Tax Department’s Survey At BBC Delhi, Mumbai Offices Continues For Second Day: Report

The Income Tax (I-T) department's 'survey' at the BBC India offices is reportedly contiuning for another day today. As per latest updates, the alleged IT raid at BBC Mumbai and Delhi offices which started as a survey on Tuesday, contuined at night itself and now is on for a second straight day.

According to updates from NDTV, the Income Tax department officials are understood to be making copies of electronic and paper-based financial data of the organisation. However, whether or not this IT usrvey will end today, is yet to be known.

For the unversed, the IT department survey at BBC Delhi and Mumbai offices started on Tuesday over allegations of tax evasion. As per media reports, apart from these offices, the income tax officials also surveyed at least two other linked premises, ones linked with BBC. Sources also told PTI that officials from the I-T department came to BBC offices around 11:30 am on Tuesday.

As per the NDTV report, during the IT survey at BBC offices, some computer peripherals and mobile phones were also cloned. However, as per officials' statements to media, the survey by income tax officials is being carried out to check issues related to international taxation and transfer pricing of BBC and subsidiary companies.

The development at BBC India offices comes a few days after the broadcaster released a two-part documentary series called 'India: The Modi Question." The documentary which stirred massive controversy both in the domestic and international space, was later not available for viewing officially for Indian users.
