Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Madhya Pradesh will have a pivotal role to play in helping India achieve the status of a ‘developed’ nation. The Prime Minister said this while virtually addressing the Invest Madhya Pradesh – Global Investors Summit being held in Indore. 

Earlier this week, in the run up to the investors’ summit in Indore, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had said that the state will become a $550 billion economy in its bid to contribute to Modi’s vision of a $5 trillion Indian economy.  

Presently, the state’s economy GDP stands at around $150 billion. During the inauguration ceremony of the investors’ summit on Wednesday, Chauhan said that the state will reach the $550 billion mark by 2026. He termed the ongoing summit, that will end on Thursday, as a key milestone in achieving this goal.

The CM said, “There are buyers, sellers, over 5000 industrialists, and 70 big industrial houses participating in the summit. There is immense enthusiasm for investment in Madhya Pradesh, not only among domestic investors but investors across the world. I feel our efforts will bear fruit. I have to make the state a $ 550 billion economy by 2026 and this summit will be a milestone in this direction.” 

It is expected that the high participation by domestic and international industry players in the summit will drive up investments in the state. Regarding the international participation, the CM said, “The Global Investor Summit (GIS) is global in the true sense as representatives of 82 countries are participating and there are 10 partner countries in it. The President of two countries, several foreign ministers, finance ministers, and mineral ministers of different countries will be participating in the summit.”
