Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta on Sunday announced that the verified tag or the blue badge on Facebook and Instagram may get paid soon. This means that Meta Platforms is now testing a monthly subscription service called Meta Verified similar to Twitter verified, which is also now paid.
As per the information available in the public domain, this paid Meta Verified service will let users verify their accounts using a government ID and get a blue tick, all at the payment of a small fee. The idea behind this, as per Meta, is to help content creators grow, build communities and even avoid impersonation.

The Meta Verified is expected to be a subscription bundle for both Instagram and Facebook and will be launched later this week. The mentioned service will be priced starting at $11.99 per month on the web and is also expected to provide extra protection against impersonation.
It must be noted that Meta Verified will first be launched in Australia and New Zealand this week and eventually, the service will be rolled out in other countries as well. Back then, even when Twitter launched its paid blue tick or Twitter Blue, the service was first launched in select countries and then eventually rolled out to others.

As per media reports, Mark Zuckerberg had earlier said that the company would soon launch several products that would empower creators and help them be more productive. This move by Meta is also being seen as a new source of revenue for Meta by many experts at a time when the company has been battling with a global economic slowdown like other companies.
