Mukesh Ambani Donates Rs 5 Crore to Badrinath and Kedarnath Temples; Know Billionaire Businessman's Net Worth

The reports of the current donations surface at a time when the business tycoon stood at the top of Forbes 2024 list of ‘India’s 100 richest’

Mukesh Ambani, billionaire businessman and Reliance industries’ (RIL) chairman donated Rs 5 crore to Badrinath and Kedarnath temples during his visit recently. In 2022, Ambani visited the temples and donated the same amount to the temples' joint committee at that time. 

The Ambani family last month donated a 20-kg gold crown of approximately Rs 15 crore to the Lalbaugcha Raja idol in Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi.

The reports of the current donations surface at a time when the business tycoon stood at the top of Forbes 2024 list of ‘India’s 100 richest’ released on October 9. Ambani had an estimated net worth of $119.5bn across his diversified assets. Adding $27.5bn this year to his wealth, he has become the second biggest gainer in dollar terms.

However, his current net worth stands at $103bn as he recently experienced a significant drop in his net worth, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. This has impacted his position on the list, slipping to the 15th spot.

His salary as the chairman and MD of RIL is reportedly around Rs 15 crore.

Instrumental in Reliance's Diversification

Ambani joined RIL in 1977 and has helped in diversifying the company into several industries, including petrochemicals, textiles, retail and telecommunications. 

RIL entered the list of Fortune Global 500 in 2004 under his leadership. In 2016, Reliance launched commercial services of Jio. It also announced global collaborations with tech giants Meta, Google, Intel and Qualcomm. This followed Jio and Microsoft’s long-term alliance announced in 2019. The company crossed $200bn in market capitalisation in 2020.

Luxury Investments

Ambani also holds assets in real estate and other investments. He owns Antilia, a 27-storey residential skyscraper located in Mumbai, which is considered to be one of the most expensive private residences in the world. He expanded his property portfolio with two acquisitions in Dubai. These purchases reportedly totalled to $243mn. 

He also acquired a majority stake in a luxury hotel Mandarin Oriental in New York. He bought Stoke Park Estate, a 300-acre country estate for more than Rs 500 crores in London, England, according to reports.  

Mukesh Ambani owns luxury cars, including brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Rolls-Royce and Maybach.
