Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. has once again drawn the attention of the Supreme Court due to allegations of misleading advertisements. Acharya Balkrishna, the Managing Director of the company, has extended an apology to the Court for breaching a commitment regarding the promotion of medicinal cures in these ads.
This recent development occurred just two days after the Supreme Court's order on March 19, requiring the appearance of Patanjali's Managing Director Acharya Balakrishna and Baba Ramdev, the company's Co-founder, in a contempt case related to the dissemination of the advertisements.
The duo of Balkrishna and Ramdev was directed by the bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah to appear in court on April 2, as per a report by LiveLaw.

Balkrishna, in an affidavit submitted to the court, expressed his utmost respect for the rule of law. He tendered an unqualified apology and assured that the company would take steps to avoid releasing similar advertisements in the future.
This is not the first time the company has faced the wrath of the apex court. Earlier as well, the court had issued a Contempt notice to Patanjali Ayurved and its MD for not complying with SC's directives to put a halt on misleading advertisements.
The affidavit submitted by the company stated that the advertisement was intended to be general but unintentionally included offending statements. It also claimed that the media personnel were unaware of last year's court order regarding the advertisements.
