Leading software company Tata Consultancy Services is set to have a change in its top management. Rajesh Gopinathan, the present managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of the firm, has tendered his resignation effective from September 15, 2023, TCS informed the exchanges.
Prior to becoming the CEO and MD of the IT major in 2017, Gopinathan had served as the firm's chief financial officer (CFO) since 2013. Overall, Gopinathan has spent 22 years of his career at TCS. The resignation takes place as the TCS veteran plans to "pursue other interests".
K Krithivasan, currently serving as president and global head of BFSI at TCS, has been named as the successor and will take over as CEO once Gopinathan's resignation comes into effect. He is a graduate of IIT Kanpur. Regarding Krithivasan taking over the mantle, TCS said in its filing, "He shall take over as the chief executive officer and managing director of the company in the next financial year, subject to shareholder's approval, effective date of which would be intimated in due course."

TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran said, "Over the last 6 years, Rajesh has provided strong leadership as the MD and CEO and has laid the foundation for the next phase of TCS' growth with significant investments in cloud, agile and automation to help clients accelerate their transformation. I am deeply appreciative of Rajesh's enormous contribution to TCS. I wish him the very best for the future."
Gopinathan expressed confidence at Krithivasan's ability to take over top position at TCS. He added, "I will be working closely with Krithi to give him all the support that he needs."
