The growing prominence of Aadhaar in an economy that is stepping up in its digital game, is a transformation nobody saw few years back. However, with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI’s) Aadhaar enabling over 70 million transactions every day, its position vis-a-vis artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools also becomes an important point of consideration.

Further enabling the ideas of a digital economy, UIDAI has launched its new AI/ML-based chatbot ‘Aadhaar Mitra.’ Presumably a better friend of the person approaching UIDAI and Aadhaar-based queries, the chatbot, ‘Aadhaar Mitra’ has been launched for a ‘better resident experience.’

With the help of Aadhaar Mitra, residents get access to a host of features like tracking Aadhaar PVC status, registering and tracking grievances, details on enrolment centre locations and so on.

The official tweet from UIDAI on Aadhaar Mitra reads, “#ResidentFirst #UIDAI’s New AI/ML based chat support is now available for better resident interaction! Now Residents can track #Aadhaar PVC card status, register & track grievances etc. To interact with #AadhaarMitra, visit- https://uidai.gov.in/en/ @GoI_MeitY @PIB_India.”

As of now, UIDAI has also shared a QR code that residents can scan in order to access Aadhaar Mitra. However, if someone is unable to scan the QR code, they can always visit the official website of UIDAI and access the same.

Since Aadhaar’s prominence has only grown over the last couple of years, recently, the government has also started releasing ‘update your Aadhaar’ notification. As per UIDAI’s official website, if someone’s Aadhaar Card was issued almost 10 years back and has not been updated since, the government highly recommends updating supporting documents.

The official notification on the website reads, “Keep your Aadhaar always updated for enhanced ease of living....If your Aadhaar was issued more than 10 years back and has not been updated, it is highly recommended that the supporting documents (PoI/PoA) are updated for continued accuracy of demographic information in Aadhaar.”
