Met Gala 2023 has started and the fashion industry’s biggest night is dolling with the crème de la crème of entertainment and other industries. What started as a society midnight supper in 1948 is now considered to be one of the most photographed events in the world.
While the haute couture dazzles the red carpet, it is the whopping cost of tickets and a table at the premier Met Gala that call for a lot of attention from the public.
Every attendee at the Met Gala gets a ticket at the table for the lavish dinner. The lush red carpet evening hosts roughly 400 guests, all approved by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue and her team.

As per media reports, this year, Met Gala’s ticket costed a whopping Rs 40 lakh ($50,000) and the price of a table started at Rs 2.45 crore ($3,00,000).
However, one might think that we all the celebrities spend such whopping amounts to attend the Met Gala. The party has a purpose – the money that it raises/earns, mostly in millions, get directed towards the Met’s Costume Institute, a self-funding department. The department also reportedly launches an annual spring exhibit that hosts several visitors to the museum.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.’ All celebrities, gathered in New York City, have dressed in honour of the late fashion icon Lagerfeld.
