In a notable initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient seed varieties to enhance agricultural productivity and farmers' income. The new seeds, covering 61 crops including 34 field and 27 horticultural varieties, were unveiled at Delhi’s Pusa Campus.

Prime Minister Modi presented these advanced seed varieties, developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), at experimental plots in Delhi. During the event, Modi engaged with farmers and scientists, highlighting the significance of these innovations in improving farm output and reducing input costs.

The new varieties aim to bolster both field and horticultural crops, including cereals, millets, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants. Modi emphasised the role of value addition in agriculture and the growing demand for nutritious, organic food. He also discussed the benefits of natural farming and urged Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) to promote the new seeds actively.
