The Innovators for Bharat Programme represents a partnership between the SBI Foundation and Villgro, to empower 14 agritech startups with an initial investment of rupees 3.25 crores, complemented by an additional rupees 6 crores from NABKISAN, a non banking financial company partner.
The initiative targets early- and growth-stage startups. It encourages the development of technology solutions to significant agricultural issues, particularly those intensified by climate change. By promoting innovation the programme aspires to enhance the farming sector by increasing the income of small holder farmers and fostering sustainability.
The participating startups including Bharat Rohan, RAAV Techlabs, Maruti Drones and Krimanshi, are dedicated to minimising post-harvest losses utilising agricultural waste and reducing CO2 emissions through advanced agritech innovations.
Over the next two years the programme aims to benefit 10000 individuals, implement sustainable farming practices across 60000 acres and prevent the emission of 15000 tonnes of CO2. Startups such as Grey Matter and Carbon Masters are playing a vital role in combating climate change by employing state-of-the-art technologies in agriculture.
