At the 6th EU-India Water Forum, held alongside the 8th India Water Week, the EU and India agreed to deepen cooperation on sustainable water management. Both sides committed to advancing river basin management, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable investments to tackle pressing water challenges.
A key highlight of the forum was the discussion of trilateral collaboration between East Africa, India, and the EU to address the water challenges in East African water bodies, including Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika. By leveraging the collective strengths of India and the EU, the forum seeks to deliver impactful solutions in the region.

Since its establishment in 2016, the India-EU Water Partnership (IEWP) has aimed to enhance scientific, technological, and policy frameworks for water management. Currently in its third phase, the IEWP focusses on key areas such as river basin management, urban flooding, water governance, and climate resilience.
The forum brought together key government officials, policymakers, experts, and businesses from India and the EU. Notable attendees included Shri Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Kushvinder Vohra, Chairman of the Central Water Commission, and Hervé Delphin, EU Ambassador to India. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to long-term water cooperation during the plenary session.
