India’s office market is undergoing a green transformation, with over 65 percent of Grade A office space now green-certified, a new report reveals. 

The Vestian research report highlights that among 1,362 Grade A buildings, 59 percent hold green certifications, underscoring the country’s growing focus on sustainable construction. Bengaluru leads with the highest total green office space at 172 million square feet. 

“Sustainable buildings create healthier workspaces and secure the environment,” said Yukti Nagpal, Director of Gulshan Group. 

Ashwinder R. Singh, co-chair of the CII NR Committee on Real Estate, emphasised Bengaluru’s shift towards green-certified offices. “As the Silicon City of India, Bangalore has witnessed the shift towards green-certified office spaces,” Singh said.

Harsh Gupta, CEO of Sundream Group, highlighted the importance of platinum-rated green building certifications. “Embracing sustainable practices is not just a trend; it’s a long-term commitment,” Gupta said. 

The report also reveals that tenants are willing to pay a premium of 12-14 percent for green-certified office spaces. “Green buildings enhance employee well-being and productivity, attracting top talent,” said Deepak Sethi, Director of Projects at Reach Group. 

Prasoon Chauhan, Founder and CEO of Aurika Homes, added, “Green building certifications are the future of real estate development.”
