Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) – a new digital platform designed to enhance and support India's start-up ecosystem is set to be unveiled today by the Union Commerce Ministry's Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will launch the start-up registry.
The digital platform which comes under the government's Startup India programme is set to be a "game-changer for India's innovation ecosystem" as per the government's statement.
The platform is at the heart of the government of India's vision to transform India into a global hub of innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasising the country's commitment to the start-up sector.

BHASKAR is designed to centralise, streamline and improve collaboration among key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, such as start-ups, investors, mentors, service providers and government agencies.
By its role as a centralised registry, the digital platform will provide seamless access to a broad range of resources, tools and knowledge that will reportedly help propel India's entrepreneurial journey from ideation to execution.
It also aims to create a conducive atmosphere for networking, collaboration and growth within the start-up ecosystem. The platform will provide personalised IDs for each stakeholder to expedite interaction, enhance searchability and allow for the efficient discovery of relevant opportunities and partnerships.

The key features of BHASKAR include networking and collaboration, providing centralised access to resources, creating personalised identification, enhancing discoverability and supporting India's global brand.
India currently houses more than 1,46,000 DPIIT-recognised start-ups and has redefined its start-up sector into one of the world's most dynamic hubs, as per the commerce ministry's press release on September 15. BHASKAR is set to provide the leeway through its platform to overcome the challenges faced by both entrepreneurs and investors alike.
