The United Nations system, member states, and various stakeholders are gearing up for a critical meeting in July: the 2024 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). This year's forum will take a deep dive into five specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covering Poverty (SDG 1), Partnerships for the Goals, Hunger, Climate Action, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
The 2024 session holds particular significance as it will be the first held under the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) following the 2023 SDG Summit. This year's forum emphasises progress in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a crucial aspect of the HLPF's ongoing mission.

The UN Secretariat has published a concept note for the July session, while a provisional agenda is expected to be released shortly. A draft programme outlining daily events and guiding questions for thematic discussions is also available. As speaker information becomes finalised, an annotated programme for the HLPF and the ECOSOC High-Level Segment will be published and updated. Background materials for the thematic sessions are available online as well.
