The Global IndiaAI Summit 2024, organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) kicked off today in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The event scheduled to span for two days till July 4 aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, underscoring India’s dedication to the ethical and inclusive growth of AI technologies. It also seeks to provide a platform for leading international AI experts from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organisation, and academia to share insights on key AI issues and challenges.
Reaffirming India’s unwavering commitment to the responsible development, deployment and adoption of AI, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister stressed upon the employment of the potential benefits of AI to democratise technology in the country.

“Technology should be accessible to everybody. We all know that technology, especially modern technology, is becoming very expensive. And in many geographies, the tendency is that it gets limited in the hands of a few whether it is big tech or in some cases government control everything,” Vaishnaw said in the Global IndiaAI Summit as reported by Economic Times.
"A common set of technical and legal frameworks is also available here. Startups, entrepreneurs, academics, and people working on various applications in sectors such as agriculture, medicine, healthcare, and education can use this common platform to accelerate their efforts,” he further stated as per ET.

IndiaAI mission, an initiative of MeitY seeks to bolster responsible and inclusive growth of India’s AI by fostering a comprehensive ecosystem by democratising computing access, enhancing data quality, developing indigenous AI capabilities.
The mission also hopes to attract top AI talent, enabling industry collaboration, providing startup risk capital, socially impactful AI projects, and promoting ethical AI.
India is also the lead chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for the year 2024. The GPAI is an alliance of 28 countries to advance commitment to safe, secure and trustworthy AI.
