Intel layoffs are here, once again! After several tech companies resorted to more rounds of mass layoffs, chip manufacturer Intel too, is reportedly laying off employees again.

According to an IANS report, Intel layoffs are happening once again as the tech giant is planning to cut its costs while navigating a challenging macro-economic environment. However, Intel has not exactly specified as to how many workers it will lay off.

The report adds that in a statement to USA Today, Intel mentioned that it is working to accelerate its strategy. Along with this, it also working around a tough and challenging macro-economic environment, one that is also witnessing several tech layoffs.

“We are focused on identifying cost reductions and efficiency gains through multiple initiatives, including some business and function-specific workforce reductions in areas across the company,” IANS quoted an Intel spokesperson as saying.

While Intel has not specified the number of people to be laid off, several media reports suggest that this round of Intel layoffs may impact almost 20 per cent of the global workforce. More so, this round of job cuts may reportedly be centred at client computing and data centre divisions but the company is yet to confirm all these details.

Intel layoffs come as a part of the bigger picture where the company in 2022 announced its plans to slash its expenses. Back then, it laid off more than 500 people in California alone, adding itself to the list of companies resorting to mass layoffs amid recession fears.
