OnePlus Launches Its Very First Foldable Smartphone With OnePlus Open

OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone brand, known for its premium headsets, has launched its very first foldable phone called the OnePlus Open.

The event, which took place on 19 October, had the theme 'Open for Everything'.

OnePlus Open costs Rs 139,999 in India. The open sale of this product will begin on 27 October.

The phone has a powerful storage and software capacities with a 16 GB RAM, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8th Generation 2 chipset, and 512 GB of storage. The foldable phone runs on OxygenOS 13.2 operating system, which is based on Android 13.

The phone has three back cameras — a 48 megapixels (MP) main camera with the Sony LYT-T808 'Pixel Stacked' CMOS sensor, a 64 MP telephoto lens which allows for 3x optical zoom, and a 48 MP ultra-wide camera.

All the back cameras are enabled with the Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) Technology. The Sony LYT-T808 sensor allows the phone to match the image quality of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, despite having a smaller primary camera.

The phone also has two front cameras of 20 and 32 MP.

Vulture Black and Emerald Dust are the two colours available in the foldable smartphone.

OnePlus gave attendees a sneak peek at the company's first-ever foldable phone, at the Cloud 11 event in Delhi, back in February 2023.

The inner display of the OnePlus Open when expanded is 7.82 inches, while the cover display is 6.31 inches. Both panels use LTPO 3.0 technology and have a 120Hz refresh rate. The 2K screen's clarity and sharpness make it suitable for watching material.

Four years of Android operating system upgrades and five years of security fixes are included with the OnePlus foldable smartphone.
