Google announced that it had selected 20 start-ups who will be part of the inaugural cohort of 'Google for Startups Accelerator-India Women Founders'. The tech giant chose them from 400 applications of start-ups founded or co-founded by women.
Some start-ups selected include Aspire for Her, Brown Living, CoLLearn Education, Commudle, Dubverse, Elda Health and Fitbots.
In a press statement, Google stated, "This programme is part of a larger effort by Google towards improving the representation of women across different sections of India's digitally-trained workforce—be it entrepreneurship, professionals looking to upskill or young graduates seeking a head start on their career."

Through this 10-week initiative, the American multinational emphasises access to networks, capital, hiring challenges and mentorship. These try to help female founders overcome challenges, including various social prejudices and low representation.
Moreover, the curriculum will include workshops and support around artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cloud, user experience, Android, online product strategy and growth. It will also provide the founders' access to a global community of their peers.
