Online food and delivery platform Zomato witnessed its third major stepdown of executives this month. Mohit Gupta, one of the earlier co-founders of Zomato, left the company after four and half years of service. He joined the Gurugram-based food tech company in 2018.
Prior to Gupta’s resignation, Zomato’s former New Initiatives head Rahul Ganjoo and ead of Intercity Legend Service Siddharth Jhawar left the company earlier this month. Gaurav Gupta, one of the co-founders of Zomato, left the company two months after its initial public offering (IPO) programme.
“MG (Mohit Gupta) - you have been a brother and a friend to me over the last few years. You have done a tremendous job here, brought us back from the brink of extinction, scaled the business to new heights, got us to profitability, and above all, coached me over the years to become capable of running such a large and complex business," Deepinder Goyal, the founder and chief executive said while addressing Gupta’s resignation.

In his farewell message, Mohit Gupta said “I am looking forward to seeing you continuing to build on everything we have learned over the years. Be relentless, keep learning, and build an organization that is a role model for the rest of the world." He praised Deepinder Goyal by saying, "Over the past few years, I have seen Deepi [Deepinder Goyal] become an even more mature and confident leader who is now completely capable of leading the business into a bright future with all of you by his side."
The Gurugram-based food tech company reported a loss of Rs 2.51 billion in the September quarter of 2022. The net losses decreased compared to Rs 4.30 billion in the correspondent quarter, one year earlier. The company also witnessed an increase in its revenue coming from operations.
