A complaint has been filed with the Ministry of Labour and Employment against fintech platform Paytm by several of its employees for alleged unlawful termination of them without any compensation. This is as per a report by Moneycontrol.
A copy of the complaint has been reportedly filed on the Samandhan portal. Alleging unfair and unethical termination, the employees have asked for reinstatement in the fintech firm, according to the report.
As part of the legal process, supporting documents, such as emails, have been submitted. Speaking to Moneycontrol, an employee said, “We are awaiting a response from the Ministry and hope the case will be taken up by them. If not satisfactory, I will take the court route.”

Recently, several employees of Paytm alleged that they were forcefully asked to resign from the company. The HR team of the fintech firm asked employees to resign voluntarily or face disciplinary action, as per a report by Inc 42.
The employees added that the communication was done to them without any official documentation over WhatsApp or via Google Meet. However, Paytm has denied all these allegations. The fintech firm has said in a statement, “We strongly deny allegations pertaining to any forced action on employees. Reports on bonuses not being paid to outgoing employees are grossly incorrect and misleading.”
Paytm has laid off several employees as part of its restructuring process. Ever since the RBI restrictions were imposed on Paytm Payments Bank, the company has laid off several employees. Recently, the fintech firm confirmed on June 10 that it had laid off an undisclosed number of employees.

To ensure a smooth transition, the company reportedly provided outplacement support to its employees. Meanwhile, the All India Professionals' Congress (AIPC), the Indian National Congress’s wing, has extended support to Paytm workers and said that they will fight for their cause. The AIPC has asked employees to reach out to them and shared a form where employees can share whether they were forced to resign from Paytm and not given compensation.
