Disappointing Thursday start for the Sensex and Nifty

The market after closing high on Wednesday had a disappointing start on Thursday morning as the S&P BSE Sensex started on a losing note of down 204.95 points or 0.57 per cent while the NSE Nifty is trailing by 66.45 points or 0.61 per cent, after two hours of market opening.

Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Bharti Airtel, Yes Bank and HDFC Bank were leading gainers in BSE’s indices whereas SBI, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports and NTPC were the top losers.

At the NSE, Sun Pharma, HCL Tech and Lupin were on the high end while Infosys, Tech Mahindra and IOC were the top three losers.

In the commodities sector, gold had a fair increase with Rs. 115 or 0.37 per cent and stood at Rs. 31,258 while Brent Crude saw a decline of Rs. 4 or 0.09 per cent to stand at Rs. 4502 per bbl.

The banking sector saw the shares of HDFC and IndusInd bank rise with 0.39 per cent and 0.31 per cent respectively, while Axis Bank and SBI were down by 1.15 per cent and 1.72 per cent respectively.
